Lauren Carey is a runner. In fact, by the time you read this she will have completed her seventh Marathon after finishing Boston Monday. Some of her expert running advice includes: “pancakes are the best way to carbo load” and “just keep running.”
Lauren is much more than simply a runner and pancake eater. She’s also an avid reader. Her favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird, the book she reads over and over again is currently Green Eggs and Ham, and she’s been known to enjoy other classic tomes of literature like Valley of the Dolls. If she had her way she would be reading on the beach, but alas she is also an awesome mom to two kids, Myles and Hannah.
In fact, alongside running the Boston Marathon she said her kids are one of her greatest accomplishments thus far. That and her culinary skills (ask her about her cheese sandwiches with salt and vinegar potato chips in them sometime). She met her husband Mike freshman year of college (she said “it was a small school”), and they love living in Marshfield. An avid Pudding Hill parent, she loves the strong sense of community in town and how people really rally around to support each other.
When asked what she loves about Sanctuary, Lauren said “everything!” She then specified and said she loves how Sanctuary feels like a family “minus the drama.” Her great insight into life is that even when things don’t go according to “the plan” they always have a way of working out.
When not at Sanctuary or Pudding Hill you can probably find Lauren longing to sit in her favorite type of outdoor furniture: an adirondack chair.
